Feather In Your Cap Target Mat Game

Setup:

· Place everyone around the mat allowing a distance for throwing the beanbag onto the mat.

· Make 4 teams, giving each team their coloured beanbag.

· You will be Yankie Doodle—or if you have a spare person, they can be Yankie Doodle.

· Yankie Doodle has the team’s coloured cards in a pile next to them, feather facing down with 2 Yankie Doodle cards mixed into each team’s pile.

Answers to the questions can be a fact or fiction—Let the stories begin..

· Green team starts the game

· The first person throws their beanbag and the question the beanbag touches the most is the one they answer— If they answer they win a feather card for the team—if they can’t, they forfeit a feather card and Yankie Doodle takes it!

· If you land on a Yankie Doodle tile you will lose your turn.

· Each team takes a turn before the beanbags are collected from the mat and the game goes around again until a team wins all its feather cards, or Yankie Doodle takes them all.

If anyone lands on a Yankie doodle instead of missing a turn they have to sing part of the song:

Yankie Doodle went to town

Riding on a pony

Stuck a feather in his cap

And called it macaroni

You can make extra rules if you wish, for example giving the game a theme or year such as Christmas 1957 or Summertime 1965. It can be played without the cards and just used as a conversation starter.
