Life Histories is an ideal way for older people to preserve memories and share their life acomplishments. This versatile board game has been designed with the following aims:
- to aid reminiscence
- to invite conversation
- to facilitate the sharing of experiences
- to encourage people to write their own life histories
Catagories include: Social Life, Adult Life, Childhood, Teenage Years, Working Life, My Family and Later Adult Life
This game can be played by 2-8 people, independently or supported by staff. The questions on the cards have been carefully composed to gently prompt the players to share their life experiences. The cards also work very well as communication tool on their own.
For people with dementia, life stories can help maintain a sense of identity and help integrate the past with the present.
Life Histories is a non-competitive, fun activity that provides a valuable reminiscing tool for the benefit of both residents and staff in day centres, care homes, hospitals, activity clubs or for people being cared for at home and their carers.
